Summer Camp FAQ

Summer Camp Information / FAQ

Below we've listed common questions about our camp but we'd love to talk with you over the phone or via email about specific questions you may have. Feel free to reach out to Katie Burke at WGolfCamp@utexas.edu or 512-578-5374 (Calls and Texts both accepted). If you leave a voice message, please mention that you are calling about the girls golf camp and how we can contact you back.

When is Camp in 2023?

Due to high demand and a commitment to a low camper-to-staff ratio, we host two elite day camp sessions:

 Summer Camp Session 1: Thursday, June 1 - Sunday, June 4, 2023

Summer Camp Session 2: Monday, June 5 - Thursday, June 8, 2023

Who Can Come?

Girls, ages 10-18 of all skill levels. Campers are grouped according to age and ability so that they feel comfortable interacting with other campers and our coaching staff.

"Our camp caters to all types of players. Players who play regularly, who want to learn more about what's next in their game, who just started, and who possibly enjoy s'mores and going to the pool just as much as the golf. We always have a diverse group of campers and it makes for a great week."- Coach Murphy

Instruction focuses on improving student's swing, short game, bunker play, chipping, putting, and course management, as well as the mental and physical aspects of the game. Campers are grouped by age and skill level with a camper-to-coach ratio of 5:1. All instruction takes place at The University of Texas Golf Club. Campers have access to the golf course, the new Spieth Lower 40 wedge area and UT's private practice facility and academy.

Camps are open to any and all entrants (limited only by number, age, grade level and/or gender. NCAA guidelines prohibit payment of camp expenses (e.g., transportation, camp fees, spending money, etc.) by a representative of The University of Texas' athletics interest.  NCAA rules also prohibit free or reduced camp admission for prospects (9th grade and above).

Work Hard, Play Hard. We go big!

We're a golf camp that carves out time each day to work on your game on the course and on our practice facilities but we also set aside time to have some fun. It's important to us that campers experience campus, enjoy some ice cream, swim, spend time with new friends and familiar faces and more. In 2018, campers were treated to a live musical performance from Jack Ingram and a lesson from PGA Tour Player and Texas Ex, Dylan Frittelli.

"It's fun to see familiar faces each year at camp and meet new young players from all over the country. To see a player's face light up when something clicks or she realizes she can do something she thought she couldn't is the most rewarding part of the week. The end of camp talent show is always one of my highlights. It's one of those things that you just gotta be there to understand but these campers never cease to amaze us with their many talents and personalities." - Coach Golden

Housing & Food
Resident campers reside in The Callaway House - Austin - one of The University of Texas' best housing facilities.

Campers will stay two or four to a room and roommates can be requested when registering online. Otherwise, roommates will be selected based on age.  Please make sure that your camper and her preferred roommate have written each other down on their respective registration forms.  We will do our best to accommodate everyone's request. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided for all resident campers. Day campers receive lunch and dinner.

Campers eat both at the course and at the dorm depending on the meal. Campers typically bring some spending money for ice-cream near the dorm or for additionally ordering pizza.

Parking
Parking is available at the Callaway House garage during orientation. There will be a golf bag drop-off on the first floor of the garage at The Callaway House. The golf bags are loaded and transported to the golf course for the remainder of the week. It won't be necessary to keep golf clubs in the rooms.

Transportation
Transportation is provided for overnight campers from the Callaway House to the University of Texas Golf Club facility each day.  Campers are assigned a transportation group and ride in vans/SUVs to/from the facility.

Day Campers will need to provide their own transportation to/from activities.
