The Texas Longhorns Women’s Golf team is proud to offer elite and summer camps with instruction focused on improving swing, short game, bunker play, chipping, putting, and course management, as well as the mental and physical aspects of the game. There will also be instruction using the Trackman technology, that you won't want to miss out on!

TEXAS ATHLETICS COACHING STAFF

The Junior Girls Golf Camp provides a collegiate training experience like none other – bolstered by the experience and expertise of PGA and LPGA certified golf professionals, college coaches, a sports psychologist and an athletic trainer. Not only do campers get access to resources and facilities that a college player at Texas would, but they also get to know college players during the week. Rounding out the staff each year are student-athletes that represent the University of Texas. Getting to know college athletes on a personal level is typically one of the highlights of a camper's experience.

FACILITIES OVERVIEW

Campers practice and play at The University of Texas Golf Club – home of the Men’s and Women’s Texas Longhorns Golf teams. Sprawling over 250 acres, the course is nestled in Texas Hill Country, overlooking Lake Austin and parallel to a natural wildlife reserve in Austin, Texas. Campers will have access to the Academy, a 5,1000 square-foot building that features three all-weather hitting bays including Trackman launch monitors and club fitting/adjustment areas. Plus the Spieth Lower Forty, a six hole par 3 course that is a true test of your wedge game and helps you hone in on those skills.

CAMPER HOUSING

Overnight resident campers will stay at The Callaway House, one of UT's best and newest residence halls. With its game room, rooftop pool and spacious rooms, campers love staying at the Callaway House. Our dorm is conveniently located few blocks from campus and shops like the CO-OP (bookstore).

Our camp is assigned a floor where all campers stay. Our trainer and coaches stay on site as well. Callaway House has 24-hour security. Whenever we are at the dorm, a member of our staff is always positioned in the lobby (before lights out for all). The campers safety and well being is one of our camps main priorities.

  • All camp registrations are completed online using the registration link. Registration opens on December 1, 2023. Click here to get started!

  • Camps are open for registration until the camp session is full. Camps fill quickly, so we encourage registering as early as possible!

  • Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt during camp check-in on the first day. Campers will receive awards at the conclusion of the final day tournament, which may include team-issued merchandise and apparel.

    Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided for all resident campers. Day campers receive lunch and dinner.

    The participation fee includes instruction, room/board, green fees and practice expenses. Campers will also receive quality time with Coach Murphy, Coach Golden and Coach Luitwieler.

  • There is a $250 deposit. Full payment is due May 1st.

  • Yes! Early registration discounts are available for both day and overnight camps until January 31st. Please contact WGolfCamp@utexas.edu before registering to receive additional information.

    Discounts will be applied in compliance with NCAA rules and regulations. As such, the Junior Girls Golf Camp cannot provide scholarships.

  • Camp registration fees may be refundable, provided the Camp Director is notified within the timelines below.  

    One Week Notice (7 days from start of camp): The Junior Girls Golf Camp will refund the camp registration fee minus a 5% cancellation fee and the processing/administrative/service fees paid during registration. 

    Less than One Week Notice (less than 7 days from start of camp): For any cancellation requested less than one week before the start of the camp, the Junior Girls Golf Camp will refund the camp registration fee minus a 40% camp deposit and the processing/administrative/service fees paid during registration, except for documented medical conditions or family emergencies. Refunded registrations will be issued to the card used during registration. 

    Day Camp Begins/No Shows: No refunds will be issued once the camp has started or for any campers that fail to show up or leave camp early due to homesickness, injury, disciplinary reasons, or other reasons. 

    Merchandise purchases completed during registration are non-refundable and will be sent to campers as soon as possible.

  • Campers must complete and submit all required forms in the registration process through Ideal Logic. 

    The Camp Director will contact a camper’s parent/guardian if there is missing/incorrect information or forms have not been received by the start of the camp. 

MEDICAL, MEDICATIONS AND HEALTH & SAFETY

  • Yes! All campers are required to complete a physical exam within 14 months of the start of camp. A doctor’s signature is no longer required to verify their last physical exam. 

  • Yes! We offer a variety of food options. However, we cannot guarantee that there is no cross-contamination. Campers may bring their own food.

  • Please email WGolfCamp@utexas.edu to request accommodations for your camper. The Junior Girls Golf Camp will coordinate with The University’s Disability and Access Office to provide Accommodations and Services to address the barriers that impact a camper’s ability to learn, participate and perform.

  • Texas Athletics subscribes to the WeatherData, Inc. Skyguard monitoring and alerting service.  Directors are immediately notified when inclement weather is approaching the UT campus, and will remove campers from any potentially dangerous situation.

  • The camp can dispense medications (prescription or over-the-counter (OTC)) to your camper. These medications include prescription medications such as antibiotics, asthma inhalers, and OTC medications such as Tylenol, Advil, vitamins, and homeopathic remedies. 

    The following must be completed and approved before a medicine can be dispensed to your camper:

    • Complete the Permission to Dispense section on the medical forms (included in registration). Please complete this section if your camper needs a prescription or OTC medicine while at camp, even if they are not currently taking any medications. No medication can be administered until a signed and completed form is on file. This also includes any medications the camper will keep and self-administer during camp. 
      • Inhalers: Campers should keep their inhalers with them at all times, including during training sessions and downtime. 
      • Epi-Pens: Campers with epi-pens should keep their epi-pen with them at all times, including during training sessions and downtime. Please give an extra epi-pen to the athletic trainer on the first day of camp with instructions.
    • Deliver medications to the athletic trainer on the first day of camp in prescription bottles or marked containers that include the camper's full name, medication name, dosage and the time of day to be administered. Clear plastic bags (such as a Zip-Loc) are a great way to keep all medicines together. 
    • Verbally communicate medicine dispensing instructions with the athletic trainer on the first day of camp. If the athletic trainer helps administer medications, they will arrange times with the camper each day of the camp.

    Before a camper can carry and self-administer medication during camp, all parents/guardians must affirm and agree to the following:

    • The camper has been instructed on proper medication use and is physically, mentally, and behaviorally capable of administering the medication without camp personnel supervision.
    • The camper has an adequate supply of the medication for the camp and can store and secure the medication. 
    • The camper will use the medication only as prescribed by a physician or according to dosage instructions. The camper will not share or otherwise provide medication to any other camper.
    • The camper understands and agrees that failure to abide by this agreement constitutes a violation of camp rules that will result in disciplinary action, including removal from camp.

    Any prescriptions that need to be filled/refilled will be first processed with the camper’s insurance provided a copy of the insurance card is on file. Please upload a copy of the insurance card (front and back) to the camper’s account. A camper that uses their spending money should bring back a receipt to their parent/guardian for insurance purposes. If neither option is available, the camp will pay for the camper’s prescription and bill the camper’s account for reimbursement.

  • Campers needing medical attention will be treated by Texas Sports and Family Medicine (TSFM) or an Urgent Care facility. The camper and their insurance will be billed for an office visit and any provided services. DELL Children's, Seton or St. David's Hospitals will treat emergency and after-hours medical situations.

    The camp will always notify parents/guardians of any medical condition, health concerns, permission for physician's visits, OTC medications, emergencies and consultations.

  • Every effort is made to ensure safety throughout the camp. Supervision is maintained at all camp sessions, during transportation and at the residential housing facilities. Campers are assigned to at least one coach and counselor, and are not permitted to leave facilities without supervision. 

    Experienced and certified athletic trainers are available to monitor minor injuries, hydration levels and sicknesses. An athletic trainer will stay in residential housing to attend to athletic training-related issues during rest and meal hours. For more serious issues, the University of Texas Health Center is available. 

    A trained staff member is assigned to the front desk of residential housing 24/7 to monitor the entrance and authorize entry onto the premises. All visitors are required to sign in. A security officer holding a current non-commissioned security license issued by the Texas Private Security Board will walk the floors of residential housing from 10 PM to 8 AM nightly. 

    Per University of Texas policy and human resources procedures required by the State of Texas and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), each camp employee has completed a thorough criminal and sexual offender background check and training for child abuse awareness, safety and reporting.

  • Every member of our staff has fulfilled all human resources procedures and clearances required by the University of Texas, the State of Texas, the NCAA and all relevant and applicable laws, including a comprehensive criminal background check and training for child protection awareness, safety and reporting protocols. 

  • Our staff coaches and counselors maintain constant supervision throughout all camp activities, on and off the field. A licensed and experienced athletic trainer is on duty to attend to all injuries and sickness, as well as monitor levels of hydration and overall wellbeing. 

  • All summer programs involving minors at The University of Texas at Austin follow guidelines set forth by the Youth Protection Program (YPP). The purpose of the YPP is to promote the safety of minors participating in camps or programs on university premises or participating in those programs sponsored or supported by the University. All camps and programs work closely with the YPP Manager to ensure that every program operates in accordance with all of the university’s policies, rules and regulations, as well as the laws of The State of Texas regarding the safety of minors. More information about the YPP is available online at www.youthprotectionprogram.utexas.edu, and questions can be directed to the YPP Manager at  ypp@utexas.edu.

    The YPP Parent Guidebook will familiarize you with how the University protects your children while they are participating in programs on campus.

  • On June 1, 2015, Gov. Greg Abbott signed S.B. 11, also known as the "campus carry" law. S.B. 11 provides that license holders may carry a concealed handgun throughout university campuses, starting Aug. 1, 2016. The law gives public universities some discretion to regulate campus carry. 

    The University of Texas at Austin and President Gregory L. Fenves take issues surrounding guns on campus very seriously and will strive to create policies that conform to the new law, protect the rights of citizens and ensure the safety and security of the entire campus.  

    S.B. 11 provides that after consulting with students, staff and faculty regarding "the nature of the student population, specific safety considerations and the uniqueness of the campus environment" the university may enact reasonable rules and regulations regarding:

    • carrying of concealed handguns by license holders on campus; and

    • storage of handguns in dormitories or other residential facilities  

    The law stipulates, however, that these rules and regulations may not either "generally prohibit" or "have the effect of generally prohibiting" license holders from carrying concealed handguns on campus.  The purpose of the Youth Protection Program (YPP) is to protect all minors in their university-sponsored activities and interactions involving members of The University of Texas at Austin community. Pursuant to S.B. 11 (the “Campus Carry Law”), the YPP Policy prohibits the carrying of a concealed handgun by any person involved in a University of Texas at Austin camp/program for minors. This Policy also applies to parents and guardians who are visiting or transporting a participating minor to and from camps/programs at The University of Texas at Austin.  

    “PURSUANT TO SECTION 30.06, PENAL CODE (TRESPASS BY LICENSE HOLDER WITH A CONCEALED HANDGUN), A PERSON LICENSED UNDER SUBCHAPTER H, CHAPTER 411, GOVERNMENT CODE (HANDGUN LICENSING LAW), MAY NOT ENTER THIS PROPERTY WITH A CONCEALED HANDGUN”

  • Designated individuals will set their social media accounts to private for the duration of the camp. Personal emails, text messages, phone calls, and private social media communications with campers are not allowed.

  • Campers may stay in contact with the camp director, faculty or staff via the camp/program social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Personal emails, text messages, phone calls, and private social media communications with camp staff and faculty are not allowed.

  • We are a golf camp that carves out time each day to work on your game on the course and on our practice facilities but we also set aside time to have some fun! It's important to us that campers experience campus, enjoy some ice cream, swim, spend time with new friends and familiar faces and more. 

    • Clothing: Proper Golf Attire (No Denim on the golf course), Golf Hat, Swim Suit
    • Equipment: Golf Clubs, Golf Balls, Sunscreen, Equipment Bag/Backpack, Water Bottle* 
    • Optional: Sunscreen, Medications (Please notify the Camp Director of any medical conditions/medications)

     *Ice water and Gatorade are provided at all training sessions.*

  • Televisions, laptops, and excessive amounts of cash are not allowed. Contraband items that have no place at camp: matches, lighters, knives, firearms, alcoholic beverages, rope, razor blades, tobacco products, illegal drugs, candles, fireworks, incense, etc. If it requires a second thought or question about whether it belongs at camp or not - it doesn't!

OVERNIGHT CAMP

  • Arrival: Check-In

    Camp Check-In for the Juniors Girls' Golf Camp will be at The Callaway House Austin (Map here) between 12:30-2:00pm on the first day of camp.  Staff will collect golf clubs from the parking garage at check-in and transport them to the University of Texas Golf Club for the girls.  Parents are encouraged to help their daughters get their rooms set up and organized prior to our first camp meeting at 2:15pm.  The group will meet in the theatre room to get introduced to the camp staff and rules. Afterwards, the group will depart for the golf course at approximately 2:45pm.

    Departure: Check-Out

    Camp Check-Out for the Junior Girls Golf Camp will be at the UT Golf Club (Map here) following the Competition and Camp Awards Presentation on the final day of camp at approximately 12:00pm.  Parents will need to make sure to collect all their daughter's belongings at this time.

    Parking is available at the Callaway House garage during orientation. There will be a golf bag drop-off on the first floor of the garage at The Callaway House. The golf bags are loaded and transported to the golf course for the remainder of the week. It won't be necessary to keep golf clubs in the rooms.

  • Evening Activities
    Aside from the golf, special activities are planned which include swimming at the on-campus pool at Gregory Gym, trips to the CO-OP,  Tower and last but not least: "the best camp talent show EVER"!!!

    Final Play Day 
    On the final day of camp, campers are divided into different divisions based on age and ability. Some divisions are team-based, others the campers keep their own score. Parents are welcome to come and watch their daughters compete. Play begins at approximately 8:30 a.m. and camp concludes after the awards ceremony immediately following play.

  • All overnight campers are housed in a suite at The Callaway House located one block from the University campus.

    • Clothing: Proper Golf Attire (No Denim on the golf course), Golf Hat, Swim Suit, Undergarments, Sleepwear
    • Equipment: Golf Clubs, Golf Balls, Sunscreen, Equipment Bag/Backpack, Water Bottle*
    • Toiletries/Linens: Shampoo/Conditioner, Deodorant, Hand Sanitizer, Hand soap, Toothbrush, Tooth Paste, Toilet paper, Paper towels, Cups, Bowls( If needed), Towels, Pillow, Bed Linens (Twin XL or Full) or a sleeping bag.
    • Optional: Alarm Clock, Sunscreen, Medications (Please notify the Camp Director of any medical conditions/medications)

    * Ice water and Gatorade are provided at all training sessions.

  • Televisions, laptops, and excessive amounts of cash are not allowed.   • Yes! All rooms are equipped with refrigerators and microwaves.

  • Yes! Credit/debit card and some coin-operated washers and dryers are located at the residential housing. Campers will be responsible for bringing their own laundry supplies.

  • Campers will be automatically charged a $50 fee to their account for a lost room key.  Campers can request a replacement key at the front desk of their housing facility and/or ask a camp counselor for assistance.

  • Yes! Just include the name of the camper(s) your camper would like to stay with during registration. Most rooms accommodate up to four campers. Roommate requests must correspond to each other and we will do our best to accommodate.  All roommate requests must be of the same sex.

    For campers attending as a team or in a large group, please email WGolfCamp@utexas.edu to make special arrangements.

  • Under no circumstances are campers permitted into rooms or on the residential floors occupied by those of the opposite sex. Any violations will result in immediate expulsion from the camp without a refund. Campers are welcome to socialize in supervised common areas of the residential housing, including in the game room, lobby and dining hall. 

  • Parents/guardians are encouraged to call or leave a message on the Texas Longhorns Junior Girls Golf Camp Phone. A staff member will respond to messages and most efficiently resolve any issues. Please do not contact the Camp Housing residence.  Campers are permitted to bring cell phones and other communication devices to camp; however, it is the camper’s responsibility to ensure these items are safe and protected.

  • Yes! Parents/guardians are invited to attend any camp sessions and are permitted to visit their child in the lobby of the Camper Housing Parents/guardians are not permitted on camper housing floors outside of check-in and check-out hours of operation. 

  • Yes! Parents/guardians are welcome to send a care package to our overnight mailing address. We recommend using FedEx, DHS, USPS or DHL. Packages must be sent in time for the camper to receive it before the camp concludes. Any packages that arrive late or after the camper has departed can be picked up in person within two weeks of the conclusion of the camp or returned to the sender at their expense.

  • Every summer we welcome young ladies from all across the country and around the world. If your daughter is arriving at the Austin Bergstrom International Airport for camp, transportation is available. Simply select "airport transportation" during registration, and e-mail us with your info. A staff member will be on hand to meet your daughter upon arrival at the baggage claim area (or, if possible, the gate area). This summer we are offering our airport shuttle, FREE OF CHARGE. When booking your travel, it is best to select flights that arrive at AUS between 11am and 1pm on the first day of camp and depart between 2pm and 4 pm on the final day of camp. Please make sure to choose this option on your online registration account and e-mail WGolfCamp@utexas.edu with detailed flight itinerary.

  • For those campers traveling as registered unaccompanied minors with an airline, list “Katie Burke or Junior Girls Golf Camp Representative” as the person designated to pick up your camper.  We understand that some airlines may not accept the above and want the exact information. The camp is unable to provide exact contact information until approximately 1-2 days prior to the camper’s arrival if this information is needed.  

    Security at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport will allow a staff member access beyond the security checkpoint to pick up unaccompanied minors who are registered as such with the airline.  The airline managers at Austin-Bergstrom airport have been notified of our procedures. Counselors who pick the campers up will have ID identifying them as working for Katie Burke and the University of Texas at Austin.   Airlines do have different age requirements for what they consider “Unaccompanied” – please check with your carrier, and if your camper is flying to camp as an unaccompanied minor, please note this in their online account.

    Please make all related airline unaccompanied minor plans and pay all required fees in advance for the complete trip.  Campers must be registered as unaccompanied minors with the airline for us to meet them at the gate upon arrival, and escort them to their gate at departure.  

    NOTE:  These directions are given to cover all possibilities.  Planes are often late, rescheduled, etc.  With increased security measures, we will do our best to get to all campers as they are de-boarding their plane or leaving the security area. The directions will give your child confidence and security in the pick-up process.

GENERAL CAMP INFORMATION

  • All sports camps and clinics conducted by The University of Texas are open to all entrants per NCAA rules and regulations. Enrollment is limited only by age, grade level, gender and capacity restrictions. 

    Girls, ages 9-18 of all skill levels, are invited to participate in the Longhorns Junior Girls Golf Camps. Campers are grouped according to age and ability so that they feel comfortable interacting with other campers and our coaching staff.

  • The University of Texas Head Coach Ryan Murphy, Assistant Coach Kate Golden, and Director of Operations/ Assistant Coach Maddie Luitwieler oversee the Longhorn Girls Golf Camp. Campers will also receive instruction from some of the country’s finest college, high school and club coaches.

  • We strive to have a player to coach ratio between 5:1, with additional support staff on site at all times. Camp sessions have been known to have even lower ratios, providing the best instruction and attention.

  • The University of Texas is a permit parking only campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please observe posted signs on campus. The camp is not responsible for parking tickets received by campers or parents.

  • Yes! We welcome parents/guardians to observe any camp sessions in designated areas.  Visitors, including parents/guardians, are not allowed to be in areas where only authorized personnel and campers are permitted.  This is for the safety of all campers in attendance.

  • Transportation is provided for overnight campers from the Callaway House to the University of Texas Golf Club facility each day.  Campers are assigned a transportation group and ride in vans/SUVs to/from the facility.

    Day Campers will need to provide their own transportation to/from activities.

  • As golfers, we follow a set of rules and traditions that applies to everyone. It is up to each golfer to be honest, show integrity, show good etiquette and to show good sportsmanship. Please treat all fellow campers with respect as well as all instructors and counselors. 

    Additionally, below are a few of our camp rules that MUST be followed for everyone’s safety and well-being.

    1. No unauthorized trips in a private automobile.
    2. No trips off campus (dorms) without the permission of a counselor or coach.
    3. No use of profane language at any time.
    4. Please be in your dorms each night before curfew….we will be checking dorms!
    5. Please listen to instructors, PARTICULARLY when they ask you to stop hitting balls.
    6. No alcohol or drugs of any kind.
    7. Please keep dorms neat and clean. If any accidents occur please notify a counselor as soon as possible.

     

    *Campers and parents will be responsible for any damages to rooms and furnishings.

    *In the unlikely event that a camper’s behavior is consistently and severely at odds with camp rules, she will be sent home. Parents will be notified and required to make transportation arrangements for their daughter’s immediate return home. There will be no refunds or credits under these circumstances. 

  • It depends! Most campers will bring $20-$25. Campers will need money for merchandise purchases at the camp store and University Co-Op (overnight campers only). Pizza will be sold during overnight camps as a late-night snack (served around 9 PM). Campers are responsible for their own money.

  • Merchandise will be available for purchase at the UTGC Pro-Shop on the final camp day. We will also offer campers the opportunity to go to the Co-Op and Target to buy Texas Merchandise and snacks for their rooms.
